Winter Music Conference

Long before EDM (electronic dance music, for those who don't know yet) became known as EDM, Miami's annual Winter Music Conference has been bringing artists, DJs, industry representatives, and aficionados together to celebrate the music and debate its direction. The conference has grown and developed over its 32-year history to become, as Amanda Savage described it for the Phoenix New Times in March, 2014, "the EDM world's most influential industry conference." She added, "It's a "Who's Who" of world-renowned DJs, beatsmiths, producers, mixmasters, and other EDM movers and shakers."

Bring Your Business Cards and Demos

The Winter Music Conference is attended not only by EDM creators, but also by artist management agencies, record label/A & R representatives, booking agents, venue and event promoters, music promoters, marketing and public relations agencies, advertising and brand activation agencies, and online music retailers, any of whom might become interested in promoting you and your work. You could meet a representative from a recording studio who might offer a contract or at least the chance to cut a demo. You could meet someone who might be interested in shooting a video. You could meet a representative from a video and visual services company or an event production company that could help you with the visuals, sound, lighting, and staging that would add more excitement to your performances. So, as advised those planning to attend WMC 2015, "print lots of business cards and talk to every single person you encounter. You never know how the person next to you could help you achieve your dream."

WMC's Impact

The Winter Music Conference is one of the most highly publicized events for EDM. In 2016, nearly 2,000 artists and DJs took part in almost 400 performances at over 100 venues that included clubs as well as beach locations. The conference draws attendees from more than 70 countries. During the course of a year, the WMC website receives more than one billion unique viewer media impressions, and, during the 2016 season, more than 2,000,000 people from 209 territories and countries logged on to the site.

Seminars, Workshops, Competitions, Awards, Networking, and Parties

The Winter Music Conference combines club and beach parties with opportunities to learn how to take your career and skills to the next step. The parties are your chance to have fun and hear what's new from established EDM artists and DJs, but don't forget to introduce yourself, find out who people are, and let them know who you are. You never know what connections you might make. If you attend the Remixing and Editing Workshop, you can improve your skills and your music. At the Demo Listening Workshop, you can get the kind of feedback from the experts that will turn your demo into one that convinces them to sign you. At the panel discussions, you'll hear about the latest trends and issues within EDM. At the Q & A sessions, you can get your questions answered. You'll find the latest products, service, and technology on display at the two-day exhibit show. Enjoy, but watch, listen, learn, and be inspired as the master's compete during the VJ Challenge and the Scratching and Beat Matching DJ Spinoffs.
